DSA specialist mentoring and study skills in Lincoln
An estimated 1 in 7 people in the UK are neurodivergent.
At university, that's a lot of brilliant students working around systems built for someone else.
Lateral Minds is based in Lincoln. We support neurodivergent students one to one, face to face or online.

Face to face, close to your campus
Sessions can be in person in Lincoln, in a quiet place near your campus or, where your university allows it, on campus.
Prefer to stay at home? Online sessions work just as well.
Many students mix the two. In person when it matters, online in between.
What a session looks like
Just imagine a deadline pile that feels impossible.
We break it into steps you can actually start.
Plan a dissertation
Build a weekly routine that survives a bad week
Practise an email to a lecturer
It's practical support. It isn't counselling or therapy, and we never do your academic work for you.
Who it's for
Autistic students, and students with ADHD, dyslexia or other specific learning differences (such as dyspraxia).
The type of support you receive depends on what your DSA needs assessment recommends. Sometimes it's mentoring. Sometimes study skills. Sometimes both.

Meet your mentor
I'm Craig Miles. I live and work in Lincolnshire.
I'm a Level 4 DSA Specialist Mentor (autism specialism) with a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status.
I've spent 30 years explaining complex things in plain English. In classrooms. In industry. One to one.
And I explain every technical term as we go.
How to start
Check your DSA2
The letter from Student Finance that lists your approved support.
Meet your mentor
We reply within one working day.
If Lateral Minds isn't named on your letter, ask your needs assessor whether it can be.
Questions Lincoln students ask
Do I have to pay?
No. If your needs assessment recommends this support, DSA pays for it. DSA isn't a loan and isn't means-tested.
Can we meet in person and online?
Yes. Most students use a mix. We agree it together around your timetable.
Is this counselling?
No. A mentor helps you manage the barriers around study. If you need mental health treatment, your GP or university wellbeing service is the right route, and we'll help you find it.
